Navigating Moving Costs:
What You Need to Know
- Travel Charge: Varies based on the job and is determined after pickup and delivery addresses are provided to your estimator.
- Local Moves: If two trips with one truck are cheaper than using two trucks, we will recommend it.
- Timing: Time starts when the movers arrive at the first location and ends when unloading is complete at the final destination. Total time continues throughout care and custody of your belongings.
- Hourly rate: hourly work is billed separately from the travel charge, which covers time spent traveling to and from the job. Time spent traveling and working on your job while caring for your belongings will be counted as work performed.
- Additional Charges: Extra fees apply for moving pianos upstairs, baby grand pianos, and items to the third floor. Long carries (over 100ft) and difficult staircases must be disclosed.
- Insurance: Standard coverage is $0.60 per pound per article. For the company to be liable for boxed items, we must pack, move, and unpack them. Additional coverage is available upon request.
- Average Move Times for Different Home Sizes:
- For a 1500 sq. ft. home: 5-8 hours with 3 men
- For a 2000 sq. ft. home: 5-8 hours with 4 men
- For a 2500 sq. ft. home: 6-9 hours with 5 men
- These times are averages and may vary slightly depending on specific circumstances.
